Welcome to Sessions from the Edge where I host real conversations with people reshaped by adversity.
They could be Titans navigating diagnosis, carers holding the line for someone they love or practitioners walking beside them with solutions.
Each guest joins me on the edge of now, that raw moment when identity cracks… and something new begins.
We talk about what broke, what held, and how they began to rebuild. Because you are not broken.
You are being rebuilt.
And your next chapter might just begin… right here, on the edge.
Each week we theme the conversation on the ChapterKey release of the week and this week’s Theme is the Pause With Purpose.
Defining Purpose is something we find difficult when we are handed a diagnosis.
Today, I’m joined by MJ Slattery, a business owner, portfolio creative and creative producer forthe Women’s Wellness Festival, an annual event held for and with the local community. The focus of this conversation is around finding purpose, identity and direction for her, her family and the paediatric patient she has a life long relationship with, Jonny her five year old son.
MJ regularly unpacks her thoughts and feelings on substack through her ‘Musings by MJ Slattery’ publication. It’s quite a read and nothing is held back as she gets creative about the balancing tightrope between business woman, wife, mother and carer.
In our conversation, we’ll explore:
How she finds identity and purpose while steering the ship of family life.
Her son’s condition
Balancing the family dynamic
MJ’s Substack
Trigger warning: During this conversation we will be talking about children with life threatening conditions. If this is a subject that raises concern with you, I strongly recommend not listening to this episode or seeking professional advice afterwards if it has impacted you.
