Beyond the Physical: Why True Healing Starts Upstream
Modern medicine targets your symptoms, but ancient healing works on your energy, thoughts, and emotional terrain.
The Titan Pulse
Some weeks bring rapid momentum; others ask us to pause, look inward, and listen to the quieter signals we usually ignore.
If you’ve been feeling the strain of balancing appointments, fatigue, and daily obligations lately, take a slow breath. You don’t have to figure everything out today because healing isn’t a frantic sprint it’s a quiet practice of coming back to center.
I felt it last week because my Substack energy source was playing games with me, leading to my Vigyanamaya Kosha, or mental sheath, to be out of sorts with confusion and frustration. Thankfully I was in good spirits and borrowed energy from my body and soul to carry on regardless.
It happened first on Friday morning during my “Let’s Talk Live” weekly live session when my web cam decided not to go on for the recording. I’m not one to be easily flustered so I apologised to my viewers and soldiered on. After all, a traditional podcast is audio only. The recording finished and the day moved on.
As if that wasn’t enough, on Saturday morning I had a Sessions From The Edge Substack Live and this time my guest had technical issues and couldn’t participate, so, once again not to let my plans get totally destroyed, I carried on, changed tack towards doing an adhoc run through of the Alignment Campus beta test and how it’s proceeding. Thank you to those of you who attended as viewers because you all stayed to the end which was rather pleasing considering it was totally adhoc.
Turning to Sessions From The Edge and our focus is on the last of my interview series from the Himalayas, bringing an ancient form of healing to a mountain region void of modern medicine.
Looking Beyond the Physical Form
When a chronic diagnosis lands, our immediate focus almost always fixes on the physical body, the lab results, the scans, the prescriptions. Modern medicine is essential for managing physical symptoms, but as many of us discover, treating the physical form alone often leaves deeper layers untouched.
In our latest Sessions From The Edge interview, I sat down with Pradeep Goenka in a remote Himalayan village. Pradeep is a Yoga Prana Vidya healer, and our conversation centered on a concept rooted in ancient functional health systems: the idea that a human being is encased in five distinct layers or sheaths, known as koshas:
Anamaya Kosha: The physical sheath sustained by food and oxygen.
Pranamaya Kosha: The energy sheath that holds and sustains physical function.
Manomaya Kosha: The emotional sheath where we feel pleasure, pain, and desire.
Vigyanamaya Kosha: The mental sheath of thoughts and cognitive patterns.
Anandamaya Kosha: The innermost sheath of quiet presence and bliss.
Why This Matters for Your Next Step
In Western culture, “yoga” is often reduced to physical postures (asanas). But in its broader functional sense, yoga simply means union, aligning your internal elements so you can function as a whole system.
Pradeep pointed out that over 90% of chronic conditions carry a heavy psychosomatic component.
Traumatic incidents, unexpressed fear, prolonged stress, or persistent grief start as subtle friction in our thoughts and emotions. Over months or years, that unresolved friction hardens into physical tension, fatigue, or illness.
Energy healing systems like Yoga Prana Vidya do not replace conventional care. Instead, they work alongside it. While modern medicine addresses physical structures, subtle energy practices help clean out stored emotional stress and nervous system congestion.
When you clean out old, stagnant stress and bring conscious life force (prana) back into your daily routine, you give your body the space it needs to respond to treatment. You move from merely reacting to symptoms toward actively cultivating Dynamic Harmony.
Closing Nudge
In this week’s upcoming ReadersKey paid edition, we dive deeper into the science of subtle stress loops, exploring how stored emotional tension directly impacts nervous system regulation and physical recovery. We also look at simple, grounded daily steps you can use to clear mental congestion.

The Navigator’s Insight
“Your diagnosis lives in your body, but your recovery involves your entire system. When physical effort feels exhausting, don’t force it. Shift your focus upstream, soften your breath, ease your mind, and give your emotional sheath room to unclench.”

Reflection Prompt: Where in your life are you holding old stress or fear, and what is one small way you can give yourself permission to let it go today?
