This week in the ReadersKey Research Edition,, we explore the clinical neuroscience of visual decision models, like The Alignment Codex and Alignment Compass to examine how externalising mental processing reduces cognitive load to help restore autonomic recovery.</span></p><h2><span>Decoding: The Cognitive Drain of Medical Overwhelm</span></h2><p><span>The room grows quiet after the doctor speaks, but inside your head, the noise spikes. A fresh diagnosis of Coronary Artery Disease, Cerebral Small Vessel Disease, or any complex condition doesn&#8217;t just challenge your physical vessel; it overloads your prefrontal cortex.</span></p><blockquote><p><em><span>You wake up at 3:00 AM, pacing the floor, caught in an endless loop of searching for answers across medical journals, online forums, and stack after stack of clinical pamphlets.</span></em></p><p><em><span>This mental paralysis is not a lack of self-discipline, it is state-level decision fatigue.</span></em></p></blockquote><p><span>In clinical research, decision fatigue describes a state of impaired self-control leading to maladaptive decision-making, which directly undermines a patient&#8217;s ability to self-manage chronic conditions (Pignatiello et al., 2018; Pignatiello &amp; Hickman, 2018). Existing self-management theories often fail because they ignore this limited decision-making capacity, leaving patients vulnerable to either impulsive choices or complete decision avoidance (Pignatiello et al., 2018; Pignatiello &amp; Hickman, 2018).</span></p><p><span>When you force working memory to hold, evaluate, and prioritize endless health variables at once, your brain interprets the ambiguity as an active threat.</span></p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" But what if the most powerful force in your healing journey isn&#8217;t what you do, but <em>how you energise yourself</em>?</p><p>That&#8217;s where love enters, not only as emotion, but as a source of energy for the soul.</p><p>In Heartfulness teachings, the soul isn&#8217;t a mystical add&#8209;on. It&#8217;s your &#8220;who&#8221; beneath the &#8220;what&#8221; and &#8220;how&#8221; of body and mind. Daaji repeatedly emphasises a <em>heart&#8209;centred approach</em>, where meditation on the heart helps us connect with qualities like love, compassion and acceptance. In his words:</p><p><em>&#8220;The name Heartfulness signifies the importance of embracing all experiences with love and acceptance.&#8221;</em></p>

Traditional models of health and fitness prioritise external metrics like steps walked, calories burned and kilos lost, but they miss the deeper truth:</p><blockquote><p>Real fitness is not just about your body. It&#8217;s about your alignment.</p></blockquote><p>In a major 2020 meta-review of over 90 studies on chronic illness and lifestyle adaptation, researchers found that single-modality interventions (exercise only, diet only, or stress reduction alone) had limited long-term impact unless they were combined with psychological support and values-based motivation (Chan et al., 2020). That finding supports what many Titans learn through experience that alignment across the Mind, Body, and Soul is essential for sustainable progress.</p><p>Chronic illness changes the playing field. It disrupts your mental clarity, hijacks your daily rhythms, and chips away at your confidence. If your definition of fitness doesn&#8217;t evolve with you, it becomes a barrier instead of a foundation.</p><p>This is where Alignment Fitness begins.</p>

We pull inward, shy away from vulnerability, and settle for silence. Yet evidence shows that social support is more than emotional comfort, it&#8217;s a pillar of recovery. Patients who perceive strong support tend to manage their conditions better, experience less psychological distress, and maintain clearer purpose in the chaos of treatment.</p><p>Peer support interventions across chronic disease populations have shown promise in boosting self-efficacy and quality of life, although results remain inconsistent based on design, intensity, and participant dynamics. Map your current supports.</h2><p>Use the Support Network Map tool from the chapter. Plot every person, group, or resource you lean on.</p><ul><li><p>Then audit it to determine which relationships are carrying you?</p></li><li><p>Which are draining you?</p></li><li><p>Where are blind spots?</p></li></ul><h2>2. Diversify your support types.</h2><p>Don&#8217;t rely exclusively on emotional support. Seek out practical and informational relationships too. A therapist, physiotherapist, health coach, or doctor can offer tools you won&#8217;t get from a friend.</p><p>One study of social support group interventions found small-to-moderate positive effects across domains like health behaviors, self-efficacy, psychosocial functioning, and quality of life, especially when groups balanced connection, content, and structure.</p><h2>3. Lean into digital possibilities carefully.</h2><p>Technology has opened new pathways. Peer support delivered via online communities or structured programs can overcome barriers of distance, health, or schedule. But the success of digital platforms depends heavily on consistency, moderation, and shared values among participants.</p><h2>4. Recalibrate over time.</h2><p>Your support needs will shift as your health shifts. What you leaned on during diagnosis might not carry you through maintenance. Check your map quarterly and drop relationships that pull while deepening those that affirm.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!dDi_!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!dDi_!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!dDi_!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!dDi_!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!dDi_!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!dDi_!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png" width="110" height="55" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:100,&quot;width&quot;:200,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:110,&quot;bytes&quot;:null,&quot;alt&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:null,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:true,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:null,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" title="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!dDi_!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!dDi_!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!dDi_!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!dDi_!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F5f5d6b8b-5ed7-4ede-8b62-2634654d6a91_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" loading="lazy"></picture><div></div></div></a></figure></div><h1>Thrive</h1><p>When your external network mirrors your internal alignment, resilience becomes less reactive and more generative.</p><p>You&#8217;ll gain emotional bandwidth loaded with the kind of energy you can invest back into healing, not reserve for survival. illness?</strong></p><p>Self-compassion isn&#8217;t just a feel-good phrase, it&#8217;s a measurable, therapeutic practice that rewires the way we regulate emotion, build resilience, and sustain health behaviour change.</p><p>Across multiple chronic conditions from diabetes to neurological disorders, self-compassion interventions have consistently reduced depression, anxiety, and distress, with moderate to large effect sizes. These shifts are not just psychological; they result in improved functional integration, reduced stress responses, and increased heart rate variability (a marker of nervous system regulation).</p><p>In plain language: self-compassion calms the storm inside and that calm changes your body.</p><div class="paywall-jump" data-component-name="PaywallToDOM"></div><p>And yet, this mindset is one of the least practiced tools in the chronic illness recovery toolbox. Why? </p><p>Because many Titans associate it with weakness, indulgence, or loss of drive. </p><blockquote><p>But the research is clear: those who treat themselves with kindness make better decisions, recover faster, and stay engaged longer in their healing pathway.</p></blockquote><p><strong>Core Concept Translation:</strong></p><p>Self-compassion isn&#8217;t soft, it&#8217;s a form of functional strength. When practiced regularly, it lowers your threat response and boosts your ability to act with clarity.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!g9nn!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!g9nn!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!g9nn!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!g9nn!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!g9nn!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!g9nn!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png" width="112" height="56" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/a1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:100,&quot;width&quot;:200,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:112,&quot;bytes&quot;:8469,&quot;alt&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/png&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:true,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://paulcobbin.com/i/175181450?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" title="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!g9nn!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!g9nn!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!g9nn!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!g9nn!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa1f65f23-73f5-46c7-b1ec-fc25c1ea9842_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" loading="lazy"></picture><div></div></div></a></figure></div><h3><strong>ALIGN</strong></h3><p><strong>How can I apply this research to my own health journey?</strong></p><p>Let&#8217;s integrate the three empirically-backed components of self-compassion, as identified by Kristin Neff and expanded by clinical trials:</p><ol><li><p><strong>Self-Kindness vs. Self-Judgment<br></strong> &#8211; Speak to yourself like a trusted guide.<br>&#8211; Use affirmations grounded in <em>reality-based support</em>, not empty praise.</p></li><li><p><strong>Common Humanity vs. Isolation<br></strong> &#8211; Remember: You&#8217;re not the only one navigating this pain. Not a Clich&#233;</strong></p><p>We often think of self-compassion as soft. Gentle. Passive. But research tells a different story: self-compassion is one of the most potent psychological interventions available for those living with chronic illness.</p><p>A 2024 meta-analysis found that self-compassion practices significantly reduce depression, anxiety, and distress, with moderate to large effect sizes across diverse conditions from diabetes and chronic pain to neurological and autoimmune disorders (Baxter &amp; Sirois, 2024).</p><p>Self-compassion isn&#8217;t just soothing; it&#8217;s strategic.</p><p>It helps regulate emotions, calms physiological stress responses, and rewires the body&#8217;s ability to cope. It allows us to face discomfort without flinching, and without self-blame.</p><p>And here&#8217;s the kicker: both online and in-person programs work, though engaging young people and keeping them in the game can be a challenge (K&#305;l&#305;&#231; et al., 2020). Suddenly life is no longer guided by personal rhythms, but by medical schedules, treatment regimens, and the limits of fatigue. Researchers call this &#8220;chronic time&#8221;: the sense of living under a clock not of your own making. Some have even named it &#8220;crip time,&#8221; to highlight how conventional, linear time structures don&#8217;t fit bodies that move at different speeds.</p><div class="paywall-jump" data-component-name="PaywallToDOM"></div><p>But here&#8217;s the empowering truth: your relationship with time is not fixed. A study of older adults living with multiple chronic conditions found that those who held an <em>open-ended future time perspective</em> and the belief that there&#8217;s still possibility ahead reported higher quality of life, even when their conditions multiplied. In other words, time perspective can act like a protective factor.</p><p>At the same time, research shows functional decline can accelerate under chronic illness, compressing the timeline of independence. Activities of daily living, walking, dressing, bathing, may be lost earlier and more rapidly in those with cancer, COPD, or kidney disease. The knife edge of time is real.</p><p>Dynamic harmony here means two things: acknowledging the very real risks of accelerated decline, while refusing to let linear &#8220;decline narratives&#8221; define your entire future. By reframing time, tending to functional health early, and using narrative storytelling to integrate new rhythms, Titans can reclaim agency. Time doesn&#8217;t stop, but you can choose how you live it.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png" width="118" height="59" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/e8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:100,&quot;width&quot;:200,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:118,&quot;bytes&quot;:8576,&quot;alt&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/png&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:true,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://paulcobbin.com/i/172372396?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" title="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" loading="lazy"></picture><div></div></div></a></figure></div><h3><strong>Key Insight</strong></h3><p>Time is both a constraint and a resource. Medical schedules can shrink freedom, but storytelling helps reconcile the tensions between &#8220;before illness&#8221; time and &#8220;after diagnosis&#8221; time (Jowsey, 2016).</p><p></p></li><li><p><strong>&#8220;Chronic Time&#8221; and &#8220;Crip Time&#8221;<br></strong>Sociologists challenge the dominance of linear, clocked time in healthcare. &#8220;Chronic time&#8221; forces routines around illness; &#8220;crip time&#8221; critiques rigid time norms, advocating for flexible, patient-centered pacing that respects lived experience.</p><p></p></li><li><p><strong>Future Time Perspective Matters<br></strong>A 2017 study found that older adults with a more open-ended <em>future time perspective</em> reported higher quality of life, even with multiple chronic conditions. The way you imagine your future can protect well-being as powerfully as physical interventions.<br></p></li><li><p><strong>Functional Decline is Accelerated<br></strong>Evidence shows chronic illness compresses the timeline of disability. ADLs such as walking or bathing are lost earlier and more steeply in conditions like cancer, COPD, and CKD, magnifying the stakes of early functional support.<br></p></li><li><p><strong>Integrating Body, Mind, and Soul with Time<br></strong>Functional integration means aligning treatment with meaningful living, balancing the body&#8217;s needs with the soul&#8217;s pursuit of joy and the mind&#8217;s narrative framing. This restores dignity and reclaims time as something lived, not only managed.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" accelerates decline and warps time. Patients often feel trapped in rigid medical schedules and a shrinking horizon.</p><p><strong>The Discovery:</strong> Research shows that <em>how we experience time</em>, our narrative, our perspective on the future shapes well-being. An open-ended time perspective buffers quality of life, even in the presence of multiple conditions.</p><p><strong>The Guide:</strong> Concepts like &#8220;crip time&#8221; and &#8220;chronic time&#8221; challenge the tyranny of linear decline, inviting more flexible, patient-centered approaches. Narrative storytelling becomes a tool to integrate disruptions, restore identity, and create new rhythms.</p><p><strong>The Plan:</strong> Support functional health early (strength, mobility, ADLs) while cultivating practices that expand time perspective, storytelling, future-oriented goal setting, family support. Align treatments with meaningful living.</p><p><strong>The Result:</strong> Titans who embrace the knife edge of time do not escape its sharpness, but they learn to walk it with grace acknowledging limits while living fully in the possibilities that remain.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png" width="118" height="59" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/e8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:100,&quot;width&quot;:200,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:118,&quot;bytes&quot;:8576,&quot;alt&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/png&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:true,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://paulcobbin.com/i/172372396?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" title="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!FBoB!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fe8329a11-9b4f-4095-ac74-4fdb9f6e18c6_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" loading="lazy"></picture><div></div></div></a></figure></div><h3><strong>References</strong></h3><ul><li><p><strong>Jowsey, T.</strong> (2016). In reality, stress is part of the terrain. Your job isn&#8217;t to erase it, but to regulate it so your Elements stay aligned while conditions change.</p><p>This week&#8217;s research shows resilience isn&#8217;t a fixed personality trait; it&#8217;s a trainable process. One recent review across multiple chronic conditions found that higher resilience consistently pairs with better self-care, things like medication adherence, movement, sleep, and pacing. That link matters, because self-care is where daily outcomes are actually won.</p><p>A newer model, ADAPTOR, makes this practical:<br></p><div class="paywall-jump" data-component-name="PaywallToDOM"></div><ul><li><p><strong>Reserve capacity</strong> (your resources and supports),</p></li><li><p><strong>Adaptation</strong> (your responses and skills), and</p></li><li><p><strong>Consequences</strong> (your outcomes) move together like a three-gear system under different levels of stress exposure. When stress spikes, your reserve (people, routines, beliefs) can cushion the impact while you adapt (reframe, breathe, plan, rest). When stress eases, keeping reserve and adaptation in sync strengthens recovery and momentum.</p></li></ul><p>The body isn&#8217;t the only lever. Mind skills (like reframing and attention training) reduce the noise from your inner critic (your inner catastrophiser). Soul work (purpose, values, meaning) fuels motivation so you keep showing up. The family system matters too; shared beliefs and coping routines act like scaffolding that stops small setbacks becoming big flare-ups.</p><p>Dynamic harmony is not a one-time fix. It&#8217;s a repeatable pattern: <br><strong>sense &#8594; adjust &#8594; realign</strong></p><p>Small, consistent adjustments done across all three Elements add up to confidence you can feel.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png" width="112" height="56" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:100,&quot;width&quot;:200,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:112,&quot;bytes&quot;:6494,&quot;alt&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/png&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:true,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://paulcobbin.com/i/172314184?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" title="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" loading="lazy"></picture><div></div></div></a></figure></div><h3><strong>Key Insight</strong></h3><p>Dynamic harmony is the skill of re-balancing. Think attention training, paced breathing, values-guided planning, and supportive routines, small drills that strengthen the network that holds you steady.<br></p></li><li><p><strong>ADAPTOR: Three Gears You Can Turn<br></strong> ADAPTOR frames resilience as a synchronised interplay of reserve capacity, adaptation, and consequences within the context of stress exposure. Under heavier stress, reserve and adaptation can compensate for one another (lean on supports while you take smaller steps). Under lighter stress, their synchrony matters most (keep supports and actions aligned so you consolidate gains).<br></p></li><li><p><strong>The Family System Is a Health System<br></strong> Family belief systems, internal coping strategies, and external networks act as shock absorbers. When families normalise pacing, encourage values-aligned choices, and share realistic optimism, Titans experience fewer &#8220;spread&#8221; effects where stress in one area cascades into others.<br></p></li><li><p><strong>Functional Integration Beats Siloed Effort<br></strong> You&#8217;ll move faster when your Elements work together: mind skills quiet Charlie and unlock adherence; body practices stabilise energy and sleep; soul work supplies the &#8220;why&#8221; that keeps the rest going. That&#8217;s dynamic harmony in action.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" Many of us treat stress like an invader to be eliminated. In chronic illness, that fight often backfires, stress persists, routines wobble, and we slip out of alignment.</p><p><strong>The Discovery:</strong> Research reframes resilience as a dynamic process. Your biological stress systems, psychology, and social supports form a network that can be tuned to dampen stress and sustain recovery over time. Resilience consistently pairs with better self-care, which is where real-world outcomes change.</p><p><strong>The Guide:</strong> The ADAPTOR model explains how to steer under different loads: build reserve capacity (supports, beliefs, skills), practice adaptation (mind-body tools, planning, pacing), and track consequences (sleep, symptoms, function). Use stress as a signal to choose the right adjustment, not a reason to abandon the plan.</p><p><strong>The Plan:</strong> Train a few reliable drills in each Element.</p><ul><li><p><strong>Mind:</strong> label your inner critic, reframe, 3-minute breath sets.</p></li><li><p><strong>Body:</strong> hydration, pulse walk, sleep window.</p></li><li><p><strong>Soul:</strong> values check, 10-minute purpose practice.<br><br> Loop them with your family or inner circle&#8217;s support scripts.<br><br></p></li></ul><p><strong>The Result:</strong> You won&#8217;t erase stress, but you will reduce its spread, protect your routines, and feel steadier. That&#8217;s dynamic harmony, practical, repeatable, and yours to build.</p><div class="captioned-button-wrap" data-attrs="{&quot;url&quot;:&quot;https://paulcobbin.com/p/readerskey-practicing-dynamic-harmony?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share&action=share&quot;,&quot;text&quot;:&quot;Share&quot;}" data-component-name="CaptionedButtonToDOM"><div class="preamble"><p class="cta-caption">Finding accurate, relevant and current research about living with chronic illness is so hard to find so for the well-being of someone you care about, please share this article.</p></div><p class="button-wrapper" data-attrs="{&quot;url&quot;:&quot;https://paulcobbin.com/p/readerskey-practicing-dynamic-harmony?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share&action=share&quot;,&quot;text&quot;:&quot;Share&quot;}" data-component-name="ButtonCreateButton"><a class="button primary" href="https://paulcobbin.com/p/readerskey-practicing-dynamic-harmony?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share&action=share"><span>Share</span></a></p></div><p></p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png" width="112" height="56" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:100,&quot;width&quot;:200,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:112,&quot;bytes&quot;:6494,&quot;alt&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/png&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:true,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://paulcobbin.com/i/172314184?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" title="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WKXd!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F9d21ae34-0698-48eb-8dfb-a2d22aa50e42_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" loading="lazy"></picture><div></div></div></a></figure></div><h3><strong>References</strong></h3><ul><li><p><strong>Bergeman, C., &amp; Nelson, N.</strong> (2024). Specifically, working 55+ hours per week raises stroke risk by approximately 33%, and heart disease risk by 13%, compared to standard hours. Moreover, the burden of overwork alone was linked to 745,000 deaths worldwide from heart-related disease in 2016, marking it as one of occupational health&#8217;s most lethal risk factors.</p>

While that effort matters, our research and lived experience show it&#8217;s only one-third of the story. The mind and soul are not just passengers; they&#8217;re co-pilots.</p><p>Evidence is mounting that <em>integrated</em> mind&#8211;body&#8211;soul approaches improve function, mood, and even reduce symptom severity in chronic illness. When the mind quiets, the body recovers more efficiently. When the soul feels purposeful, motivation for self-care grows. And when the body is supported, both mind and soul have the energy to engage.</p><p>The challenge? Most of us are fluent in one &#8220;Element&#8221; and neglect the others. You might be the stoic survivor in your body, but run yourself ragged mentally. Or you might be endlessly curious and self-aware, yet physically depleted. Alignment comes when each Element has a voice, and when you, as the Titan in charge, learn to listen.</p><p>This week&#8217;s insights are not about abstract wellness ideals. They&#8217;re about recognising early warning signs across all three Elements, making small, consistent shifts, and treating your whole self as a dynamic system worth honouring.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!O2Xs!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!O2Xs!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!O2Xs!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!O2Xs!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!O2Xs!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!O2Xs!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png" width="128" height="64" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/eb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:100,&quot;width&quot;:200,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:128,&quot;bytes&quot;:6494,&quot;alt&quot;:null,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/png&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:false,&quot;topImage&quot;:false,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://paulcobbin.com/i/170754195?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!O2Xs!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!O2Xs!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!O2Xs!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!O2Xs!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Feb9356c0-b65c-487c-8b3c-bf3251fe360e_200x100.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"></picture><div></div></div></a></figure></div>
